In the last year 2020, we can't deny that our life turned 360 degrees that we had never expected. The pandemic came, all of our plans, scheduled travels, concerts, meetups or any event that required physical interaction are all postponed. It's already been a year have passed since the day that we thought that this quarantine would only last for a week or two. Somehow, even though we all have experienced most are negative things there are still positive things that came to us and transformed us as better person.
Despite all of those challenges, It is noticeable that it didn't stop people while taking it as an opportunity to discover and do more things. People released their creativity to produce something worth it, to make them feel alive and satisfied and live with passion in mind.
Art is a broad industry. Art tackles music, film, business, games, etc. People can have different options on what way they would take. Most people say that they don't have the talent for them to be in this field. Is talent the problem? I do believe that all of us is talented people. It's just that only a few of us polish those given talent. My skills are still on average, I always see posts on social media of artists about their skills is not enough. Creating beautiful art is something you cannot do overnight. The artists that we see on top are also struggling at first. If you say that you draw 100 artworks and still not enough, believe me, or not, the artists on top that you always look up to draw ten or hundred times more than what you did. If ever you are not satisfied with your work, try to do it in a different approach, you can do some research, watch tutorials and practice different techniques until you discover your style.
"Trust the process, it never fails". When I was in high school, I've been part of the school paper and competed and had an opportunity to compete in regionals but in my last two years, I lost and didn't even get a chance to win and climb the stage to get the award. I cried a lot after the competitions and always question myself back then and stop drawing for a while. "What do I lack? What is wrong with me? Why I'm not enough?" Those are some of my immature thoughts I have back then. There are a lot of people who believe in me but I failed.
At some point, I realized that It's my fault all along. I didn't work, research and practice enough. I keep on denying my mistakes. Grow up means acknowledging all of your mistakes and what you don't have as an artist and as a person. Changing your way of thinking is already a big step in improving yourself. There is one teacher from the opponent school I met that I cannot forget. She said to me that "Whatever you do, whatever your task, do your best to finish it even if it's just a small thing." She also added "Set your goals and don't ever lose your way, you can take a rest for a while but never quit." Her words did a big change to my way of thinking.
I an artist is something I can be proud of. It serves as an identity at the same time as a purpose why I am here at the moment being alive.
When I was a child, I always have fun drawing as a hobby, anime and cartoons show is an influence as well in me being interested in anime art style. Look for something that makes you happy, you don't need to do something just because the others do it. It's your life, whatever decisions you make from here onwards all of it's consequences will be back at you, as long as you won't hurt someone, then you are okay. All of the people have their own time, even I, myself is still not yet successful yet I do hope soon in the future. Live your life to the fullest.
